About Forensic Medicine

Ages: 5-12  |  Levels: 1-3

Locations: Thornhill

Use the Power of Medical Science to Identify & Analyze Clues to Help Solve Crimes!

All kids love to solve mysteries and in this unique program theme, campers will journey into a different area of medicine where doctors and scientists specialize in identifying and analyzing clues to help solve crimes. Think of them as doctor detectives! Kids will hone their observational and problem solving skills while  developing a keen eye for details.  They will use the methodical scientific method approach to investigation.

Campers will explore various forensic fields that aid in solving crimes, such as fingerprint analysis, DNA and genetics, forensic pathology, blood typing, forensic entomology (insects), odontology (teeth), forensic anthropology (bones), toxicology (poisons), trace evidence, impressions, and forensic botany (plants). At Medics Camp, children will discover how doctors use medical science to solve real-life mysteries by exploring the fascinating field of forensic medicine through hands-on investigations and interactive learning. As with our other program themes, topics and activities which are age-based, special care has been taken to ensure the content for this theme is fun, not frightening.

This Camp Covers:

FINGERPRINTS, DNA, BLOOD TYPES, BONES, PATHOLOGY, MICROBIOLOGY, TOXICOLOGY, ENTOMOLOGY, ODONTOLOGY, FORENSIC ANTHROPOLOGY, TRACE EVIDENCE, OBSERVATIONAL SKILLS, CRITICAL THINKING, CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION.

Who is this Camp For?

Level 1 – Munchkin Medics: Ages 5-7*

Level 2 – Mini Medics: Ages 7-9

Level 3 - Junior Medics:  Ages 9-12

Age-Based and Learner-Driven Unique Journeys: Activities and topics are different every day and customized for each age group.  Topics and hands-on activities increase in complexity at each age level so that kids can return and enjoy a completely different experience as they age up.

Forensic specialties learned about in this camp include:  Pathologists, Forensic Anthropologists, Microbiologists, Toxicologists, Odontologists, Entomologists, DNA Analysts, Dactyloscopy and more....

Medics Camp’s certified STEM.org programs are designed to be age-specific and learner-driven, offering unique daily activities for every program and age group. As kids progress through the age groups, the topics and challenges grow more complex, and each program theme introduces new medical professionals and concepts.

For example, an 8-year-old in the Level 2 Mini Medics group (ages 7-9) can join any or all three themes: Discover, Explore, and Forensic Med and each day will offer fresh experiences tailored to their age. The following summer, they can advance to the Junior Medics group (ages 9-12), tackling higher-level challenges in the same themes, with all-new content suited for older campers.

There’s no required order or prerequisites—each theme is self-contained and age-appropriate. Campers are always grouped with peers their age, working in small teams of 4 to 6, and guided by dedicated instructors and counselors in their own camp rooms.

At Medics Camp, your child will enjoy a personalized, exciting journey that inspires curiosity and learning!

*Campers must be at least age 5 OR have completed JK.
