First Aid Leadership Camp
Introducing FALCON-the newest edition to Medics Camp. This first aid leadership camp is for youth ages 14-16. If your teen is interested in learning first aid, enjoys the field of medical science and wants to take their leadership skills to the next level they will love the opportunity to embark on a journey like no other.
The first aid component of FALCON will cover all of the topics found in a traditional Red Cross standard first aid and CPR course as well as a psychological first aid, a topic that's particularly relevant to youth in these challenging times.
The leadership component of the camp will have teens learning about themselves, and their leadership styles. They will work in small groups and a larger group to build communication skills, engage in team building activities and role play mock first aid simulations to build both their first aid skills and their leadership skills.
The week will present challenges and the FALCON program is designed to build self-confidence and self-esteem. We teach youth to be prepared to handle not just medical emergencies but every day challenges they will face in life making them better leaders at home, at school and in their communities.
In 2023 we will be adding more content related to healthcare careers. There are so many more careers available that youth may not be familiar with. If they know they are interested in health and the human body, we'll help introduce them to some very cool healthcare professions!
Graduates of FALCON may be eligible for future volunteer and employment opportunities with Medics Camp once they complete their standard first aid and CPR certification with us.
There are only 16 spaces in FALCON each week so spaces fill up quickly.
The Medics Camp FALCON program will help teens develop the skills they need for basic first aid and the confidence and leadership qualities to use them. FALCON is as much about leadership as it is about first aid. Helping others is something true leaders do and it's not always related to a medical emergency. It's the identification of a need and the desire and resourcefulness to find a solution. It's team work, integrity, motivation and commitment to see things through.
