No, but many of our staff are. We hire a diverse group of teens and young adults and many speak a second language. French, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Farsi are the most common.
While our programming is currently only delivered in English, if your child has some understanding of the language it might still be a good fit since 90% of each one hour learning block is a hands-on activity and they will be working in a small group with kids their own age.
Our staffing changes from season to season, so please send us an email at info@medicscamp.com (info@medicscamp.com)to let us know what language your child speaks and their current level of English and we'll see if we can accommodate.
Unfortunately, our normal staffing ratios cannot accommodate campers who require a dedicated counselor. While we never require campers to participate in a given activity, they must be able to self-regulate and not disrupt the learning experience of others. Campers who choose not to participate in a given activity must be able to sit at their table in the camp room and work independently on something else until the next learning block without the need for a dedicated counselor.
If your child has special needs or a health condition and you believe they would benefit from our STEM program with some minor accommodations, we encourage you to send us an email request before registering. This way, we can ensure that our camp is a good fit for your child's needs and we can prepare a plan with our staff in advance.
• Ages 6-8: 1 staff member for every 6 campers
• Ages 9-12 1 staff member for every 8 campers
Medics Camp meets or exceeds the Ontario Camp Association (OCA), recommended camper-to-counselor ratios for day camps to ensure that children receive the attention and supervision they need to stay safe and engaged.
Absolutely! Medics Camp encourages and supports learning with friends as an important part of the camp experience. When you fill out your intake forms during the registration process, there is a friend request section. Our programs are age-based so friends must be eligible for the same age group. (level 2 ages 6-8 or level 3 ages 9-12).
Please check your registration confirmation to ensure that your child and their friend are registered for the same age group, location, and session week. When you register and receive your automatic confirmation by email, please check your registration details with your friend to make sure they match.

Yes! Each program theme (Discover, Explore, Forensic Medicine) are completely different and designed to stand-alone without the need for a pre-requisite.
Each age group level (Level 2 ages 6-8 and Level 3 ages 9-12) are also completely different curriculums which increase in complexity, ensuring that as campers grow older and return for a program theme, it will be a completely different and enriching experience. Campers don't need to have attended Level 2 in order to attend Level 3-again no pre-requisite. Our curated age-based programs are designed so kids can have fun learning with their peers.
When you register your child for one of our programs, the CampBrain registration system will automatically display only the sessions that are available based on your child's age.
The registration system calculates your child's age based on how old they will be as of December 31st (not the age at the time of camp)
We believe that kids learn best with their peers, which is why our camp rooms are age-based ensuring kids are both challenged and engaged. Our programs are developmentally appropriate and tailored to the needs of our learners. Each program theme (Discover, Explore, Forensic Medicine) offers unique hands-on activities designed to progressively increasing in complexity as children grow older.
Each camp room has their own instructor, counselors and curriculum.
